Safe Patient Handling Training
The ATLAS Lift Coaches spend their day ensuring that all of your staff are trained at a time that is best for them. Our training includes proper safety techniques, how to use the equipment in that specific department or facility, and how to avoid injury to the nurse and the patient. In order to be compliant with most regulations, we recommend that each health worker is trained at least once a year.
Using our proprietary software solutions, we can keep track of what skills each of your employees has been trained on in real-time. Our lift coaches can do individualized learning plans with each RN or health worker, report updates to department heads, and issue certificates upon training completion.
Our training programs and facility assessment were designed to align with industry best practices including those from the American Nursing Association (ANA).
New Hire Orientations
The ATLAS full service program includes new hire orientations to ensure that each of your new employees is trained on the proper use of available equipment. New employees are the most likely to avoid using equipment they have not been trained on and pose the greatest risk to themselves and the patient. The lift coach rounds in each department to ensure that we are available to train your new staff in either an ad-hoc basis or in a batch of new hires together.
Skills Fairs
If your facility or department has a particular recurring issue with patient or nurse injuries, ATLAS lift coaches can hold skills fairs to ensure that best practices are taught and reinforced. Skills fairs are a great way to quickly train your staff to establish a baseline.
A “Proning” skills fair is a great way to minimize risk to your staff and the influx of COVID-19 patients that are coming through your ICU
Our in-depth facility assessment can help you understand exactly what training will lead to getting real results.
Continuing Education
Compliance with Safe Patient and Mobility programs requires a continuous improvement mindset. We have implemented over 100 programs in facilities large and small. Throughout that time, we have compiled a deep knowledge of what works and what does not. A large factor in making your patient handling training successful is periodic training as well as continuous coaching on an individual basis.
Unlike consultants and costly trainers, the ATLAS lift coach model of proactively rounding and building relationships with your staff leads to results that actually move the needle. Continuing education leads to fewer nurse injuries, lower workers’ compensation claims, and a reduction in length of stay.
Manufacturer-Agnostic Equipment Patient Handling Training
The ATLAS lift coaches are able to train your staff to use all of the assistive devices that your facility has invested in. Unlike training that may be offered by your equipment manufacturer, the ATLAS lift coaches are focused on ensuring that your staff understands all the best practices and uses the best piece of equipment available in your facility for the right task. Having a coach that knows all of the equipment makes your patient handling training more efficient than coordinating between all of your equipment manufacturers.
We provide safe patient handling training with most makes and models of:

- Specialty beds
